Japan · eSIM network lookup

Which network does your Japan eSIM use?

A dated lookup of network details published by Airalo and Holafly for Japan eSIMs, with official carrier maps and a route-check workflow.

Quick answer: which network does a Japan eSIM use?

It depends on the exact provider and package. As checked 3 November 2026, Airalo’s Japan storefront showed SoftBank as its primary network and a “+2 others” indicator; the reviewed page text did not name the additional networks. Holafly’s Japan page named KDDI and SoftBank. Treat these as dated statements about those provider products, not an independent coverage comparison. Open the exact package details before purchase because a destination storefront may show only a primary network and package terms can differ.

What does the provider network lookup show?

Airalo’s live Japan storefront displayed SoftBank as its primary network, followed by an indicator for two additional networks. Since the public page reviewed did not identify those two by name, this page does not guess them. Holafly’s Japan product page named KDDI / SoftBank. Neither listing establishes that all packages from that provider use the same network set. Confirm the exact plan details at checkout and save a copy or note of the network wording with the date you checked.

How do I check a Japan route against the named networks?

List your overnight stops and any places where you depend on data, such as trailheads, islands or long rural transfers. For the exact package, record every host network it says it can use; a storefront summary may show only one. Then open the matching official area information: au / KDDI, SoftBank, or NTT DOCOMO if your plan names DOCOMO. Record the map and date checked beside each stop. DOCOMO’s English area page links to Japanese 5G and LTE maps. Save offline maps, tickets and addresses while you have Wi-Fi.

Does a carrier coverage map prove that my travel eSIM will work there?

No. A carrier map is a reference for that carrier’s network and does not establish that a travel eSIM has permission to use the network at a given place. The provider agreement, exact plan, device, settings, terrain, building and reception conditions all matter. A map result cannot guarantee service in a hotel room, station, tunnel, mountain valley or during congestion. SoftBank states that its service area can vary with device, contract, settings and reception conditions. Check each named host network and keep offline information for critical parts of the trip.

What else should I compare besides the network name?

Check whether the plan is data-only or includes calls and texts, its high-speed allowance or fair-use rule, hotspot cap, validity start, destination list, installation and transfer limits, refund terms, and phone compatibility and unlock requirements. A network name says nothing about those plan conditions. Use the eSIM compatibility checker for manufacturer guidance, then estimate your allowance in the eSIM data calculator. Add the current checkout amount to the trip budget planner and use the currency worksheet for your own conversion assumption. These tools do not fetch provider prices or guarantee coverage.

How current and complete is this lookup?

The provider details and official area links on this page were checked 3 November 2026. This is a dated snapshot of two Japan provider storefronts, not a complete provider catalog, live coverage feed, independent network test, recommendation or coverage guarantee. Provider options and terms can change by package, location and date. Recheck the exact plan and carrier maps before travel. No referrals are active.
